I think this really depends on just how meddlesome the person is. If it's someone who's just trying to annoy you, the best thing to do really is just to ignore them. If it's someone who's out to destroy your friendships and ruin your reputation, the way to handle it is by undermining their credibility. No one's going to listen to a person if they're revealed to be a spiteful person just out to cause trouble.
Overall though, I generally pity meddlesome people, because they have nothing better to do with their lives than try to screw up the lives of others. It's generally ineffective, and ultimately unfulfilling. Besides, if you treat them badly or think of them with anger or a desire for revenge, you're just going to become such a person yourself.
